Keith Dudding joins the Roots fm

As host of Down Yonder on KDHX for 31 years, Keith Dudding was the Saturday morning voice of bluegrass and old-time music in St. Louis. His show became a destination for touring and local musicians. Keith hosted in-studio performances by some of the biggest names in bluegrass, including the Del McCoury Band, The Infamous Stringdusters,  Nickel Creek, John Hartford, Norman Blake, Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Billy Strings. In The Riverfront Times’s 2023 Best of St. Louis issue, music writer Steve Leftridge profiled Keith as the Best DJ in St. Louis, citing his mix of music and skills as an interviewer. (As The RFT folded shortly after that, Keith maintains that he retired with the title.)

As a musician, Keith taught mandolin at the Folk School of St. Louis and plays with several local string bands, including Blind Pig, The Lodge Brothers, The Mound City Slickers, and Three Crooked Men. Keith brings Down Yonder to TheRootsFM on Saturday mornings (time). “Way down yonder, yonder here we go!”

Keith Dudding and Down Yonder will air on Saturday mornings, 11 AM – 1 PM. Down Yonder will also be available on The Roots Archive Player for two weeks following each broadcast.
