Please complete the general volunteer form first. If your primary interest is in producing a specific program, please also complete the Program Proposal form. Why both?  Every volunteer who works on-air also works as a general volunteer. Everybody works on “both sides of the house.”

Volunteering at The Roots can take many forms. We have volunteers who help only 3-4 times per year and others who spend 10+ hours each week at the station. We offer volunteer opportunities that can be accomplished remotely from home, as well as others that require you to visit our studios. Our volunteers promote The Roots at special events.  We also staff a table at many live concerts, distributing information about our station and answering questions from future listeners. Our community strives for inclusivity and includes people of many ages, races, and ethnicities. The Roots wouldn’t be possible without the support of our volunteers.

The Roots is a non-commercial, listener-supported station streaming to the entire world from the KETC TV PBS building in the Grand Center Arts District in midtown St. Louis, Missouri.  The Roots FM offers a wide variety of music programming, including live broadcast concerts and information on community activities and events.  We are dedicated to "saving the music" and committed to serving as an outlet for the abundant creativity that lives in our community. The Roots is free from direct constraints of commercial, political, or religious interests.

The mission of our volunteer program is to utilize the unique talents, skills, and knowledge of our volunteers to extend The Roots Fm's reach, capacity, and impact.
