October Songbird Concert @ Focal Point
Songbird Concerts is a St. Louis-based concert series with singer-songwriters performing their material in a stripped-down, intimate, in-the-round performance space, a format unique in STL. Come enjoy singer/songwriters JJ Loui, Kip Loui, Mattie Schell, and Gerard Erker.
Kip Loui has fronted a series of musically eclectic St. Louis bands, including the Heebie Jeebies, Belle Starr, the Rockhouse Ramblers and the Transmitters. Currently, he’s part of a musical duo with his wife, Jennifer, aka JJ. He’s also a member of the outlaw-country covers band Diesel Island. Kip and JJ collaborated on several music releases.
Mattie Schell is at the forefront of the newest crop of young artists redefining Americana music. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she deftly blends the heartfelt honesty of American roots with the raw power of soul, creating a sound that has roots in tradition but is proudly and uniquely her own.
St. Louis native Gerard Erker is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and founding member of the award-winning Roots-Rock & Bluegrass band The Mighty Pines. Gerard has toured extensively across the United States since 2013, refining his skills as a performer and entertainer. He has shared the stage with members of Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, Dark Star Orchestra, Sam Bush, Trey Anastasio Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Yonder Mountain String Band, to name a few.
