SUMMARY:James McMurtry w/BettySoo @ Off Broadway
DESCRIPTION:James McMurtry is the son of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and screenwriter Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove\, Terms of Endearment).  McMurtry’s attention focused on music at an early age. At the age of seven\, he picked up a guitar and began listening to songwriters. A few years later\, he discovered Kris Kristofferson: “I didn’t know what he was singing about\, but I liked the way the words ran together\, so maybe that had something to do with me wanting to be a songwriter.” \nDedication to his craft and a tireless work ethic account for McMurtry’s perseverance in an industry that has made it nearly impossible for idiosyncratic artists to earn a living\, but it’s his blend of traditional style and socially potent songwriting that has kept his audience coming back decade after decade. \nHis 2025 album\, The Black Dog and the Wandering Boy\, includes guest appearances from Charlie Sexton\, Sarah Jarosz\, Pat MacDonald of Timbuk 3\, and Bonnie Whitmore of the Whitmore Sisters. The album’s artwork includes a sketch of McMurtry as a boy by novelist and counterculture icon Ken Kesey; it also featured a cover of Kris Kristofferson’s “Broken Freedom Song” in tribute to the great singer-songwriter\, who died while McMurtry was preparing the sessions. \nBettySoo’s vocal prowess is a thing of wonder.  A world-class instrument of deft phrasing and purity\, a voice that knows when to hold back and when to dive in.  At her own live shows\, taking a verse onstage with friends or singing harmonies in sessions with Austin’s finest\, BettySoo sings with consummate loveliness and self-assurance.  A voice that knows the roots of American music inside and out\, coming from a most unexpected place – a diminutive Korean American with a deceptively girl-next-door demeanor.

SUMMARY:Dogs In A Pile @ Delmar Hall
DESCRIPTION:The sandy shores of Asbury Park\, New Jersey are hallowed ground in the Northeast; the rolling waves have ushered generations of venerated musicians to worldwide acclaim. Dogs In A Pile\, an eclectic quintet\, has emerged as the heir apparent to the town’s rich musical legacy. Merging funk\, jazz\, and rock and roll with psychedelia\, the band presents a completely original vibe built on kaleidoscopic soundscapes eerily reminiscent of the days of yesteryear. \nDogs formed when Jersey Shore native and guitar gun-slinger Jimmy Law began playing with family friend Joe Babick (drums) at a young age. Lightning struck when they were introduced to Berklee School of Music student and bass player Sam Lucid\, who immediately suggested fellow Berklee student and keyboard player Jeremy Kaplan. The addition of Berklee student Brian Murray (guitar) in 2019 made for the quintessential final piece in the Dogs’ puzzle. \nA string of sold-out local shows drove the development of a massive Northeast fan base\, affectionately known as the Dog Pound. As the band has traversed new territory\, their astronomical rise has continued nationwide. Armed with an evolving catalog of material and cultivation of an identity unique to Dogs In A Pile\, the quintet is laying down a musical and communal foundation most often associated with the scene’s most beloved acts.

Even fewer bands leave a legacy during that time that marks them as a truly special\, once-in-lifetime type band. And no band has done all that and had as much fun as Leftover Salmon. Since their earliest days as a forward thinking\, progressive bluegrass band who had the guts to add drums to the mix and who was unafraid to stir in any number of highly combustible styles into their ever evolving sound\, to their role as a pioneer of the modern jamband scene\, to their current status as elder-statesmen of the scene who cast a huge influential shadow over every festival they play\, Leftover Salmon has been a crucial link in keeping alive the traditional music of the past while at the same time pushing that sound forward with their own weirdly\, unique style. \nThe band now features a lineup that has been together longer than any other in Salmon history and is one of the strongest the legendary band has ever assembled. Built around the core of founding members Drew Emmitt and Vince Herman\, the band is now powered by banjo-wiz Andy Thorn and driven by the steady rhythm section of bassist Greg Garrison\, drummer Alwyn Robinson\, and dobro player & keyboardist Jay Starling. The current lineup is continuing the long\, storied history of Salmon which found them first emerging from the progressive bluegrass world and coming of age as one the original jam bands\, before rising to become architects of what has become known as Jamgrass and helping to create a landscape where bands schooled in the traditional rules of bluegrass can break free of those bonds through nontraditional instrumentation and an innate ability to push songs in new psychedelic directions live. \nSalmon is a band who for more than thirty-five years has never stood still; they are constantly changing\, evolving\, and inspiring. If someone wanted to understand what Americana music is they could do no better than to go to a Leftover Salmon show\, where they effortlessly glide from a bluegrass number born on the front porch\, to the down-and-dirty Cajun swamps with a stop on Bourbon Street in New Orleans\, to the hallowed halls of the Ryman in Nashville\, before firing one up in the mountains of Colorado.

SUMMARY:Elijah Wald @ Music Folk
DESCRIPTION:Elijah Wald has been performing for almost fifty years in a wide variety of styles\, from blues\, folk\, ragtime\, swing\, country\, and cowboy songs to classic Swahili pop\, the Bahamian guitar style of Joseph Spence\, and Mexican corridos. He hit the road in his late teens as a rambling busker and has toured all over the United States and much of the rest of the world\, playing in coffeehouses\, bars\, nightclubs\, colleges\, concert halls\, and on festival stages from New Orleans to Chicago\, Tokyo\, Salzburg\, and Sydney. \nElijah’s mentors include Dave Van Ronk\, with whom he performed\, recorded\, and wrote Dave’s memoir\, The Mayor of MacDougal Street (which inspired the Coen Brothers’ movie Inside Llewyn Davis); Howard Armstrong\, the legendary Black string band master\, with whom he toured for five years; Eric Von Schmidt\, the founding father of the Cambridge folk/blues scene; and Jean-Bosco Mwenda\, the father of Congolese acoustic guitar. He won a 2002 Grammy (for liner notes\, which in Van Ronk’s words “is kind of like getting the Nobel Prize in fingerpainting\,” but still nice)\, filmed a highly-regarded instructional video on the guitar style of the Bahamian wizard Joseph Spence\, and his shows blend music and stories from a wide range of people and places in a compellingly personal style. \nElijah’s music and stories are deeply informed by his second career as a chronicler of American and world music. Along with the Van Ronk memoir\, he has written books on Josh White and Robert Johnson\, an exploration of Jelly Roll Morton and the censorship of early blues\, an alternative history of popular music provocatively titled How the Beatles Destroyed Rock ‘n’ Roll\, and Dylan Goes Electric! the basis of the film A Complete Unknown with Timothee Chalamet as Dylan (who picks up that “damned” electric guitar at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival and the music world was never the same!!!)\, Monica Barbaro as Baez and Edward Norton as Pete Seeger. The film received 8 Oscar nominations.

This vibrant collection offers a sublime showcase for Broussard’s dynamic vocal prowess\, revealing his craftsmanship and passion for an impressive range of enduring American music. S.O.S. V Songs of the ’50s is Broussard’s latest entry in his philanthropic album series benefiting the nonprofit organization\, Love of People\, based in Broussard’s hometown of Lafayette\, LA. \n\nAbout Sway Wild\n\nSan Juan Island\, WA-based indie folk-rock duo Mandy Fer and Dave McGraw are back at it with a new sound\, and a new name: Sway Wild! Their exceptional vocal harmonies\, coupled with Fer’s pioneering electric guitar work\, have become a vehicle to carry them around the world\, sharing stages with the likes of Iron & Wine\, Lake Street Dive\, and Watchhouse. \nSway Wild’s infectious sound explores the corners of rock\, pop\, funk\, worldbeat\, and folk\, but at its nucleus it is undeniably a music full of joy. He began playing guitar at age five and by his late teens was a fixture on the St. Louis music scene. SUMMARY:Kenny Wayne Shepherd @ The Factory
DESCRIPTION:For the last quarter-century\, riding shotgun with Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been the greatest road-trip in rock ‘n’ roll. Gone is the young Louisiana gunslinger who erupted onto the early-’90s scene with his burn-it-down guitar solos and gut-punch songcraft. The man he’s become is even more magnetic\, still pushing his Fender Strat where others fear to fret\, while diving deep into human truths and personal evolution with an honesty that only comes with miles on the clock. If that quarter-century journey has taught Shepherd anything\, it’s that there’s no such thing as mission accomplished. A restless creativity has driven Shepherd ever since he taught himself to play guitar at the age of 7. A musician in constant motion\, Shepherd has spent his career burning up the highways and crossing continents\, bringing his unique style of rock/blues to the world. \nIn an industry that’s changed drastically over the years\, Shepherd’s versatility and drive has served him well. He plans to keep making music and to keep touring\, “I don’t have any intention of sitting idly. We’re a live band\, and when people listen to our records\, I want them to hear what we sound like when we play live. I just want to keep moving and keep creating and keep doing what I love – for as long as I possibly can…” \nBand Members:\nChris Layton – Drums\, Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Guitar & Vocals\, Noah Hunt – Vocals\, Joe Krown – Keyboards & B-3\n

SUMMARY:The Greyboy Allstars @ Delmar Hall
DESCRIPTION:Born in San Diego as the “Allstars” of DJ Greyboy’s underground label\, the five musicians offered living\, breathing interpretations of his rare groove\, crate-digging discoveries. Flash forward thirty years later and GBA have grown into legitimate “Allstars” in modern music. Away from GBA\, guitarist Elgin Park aka Michael Andrews is a notable composer of scores for film and television\, ranging from Donnie Darko to Freaks & Geeks to his most recent work on the upcoming animated documentary Piece by Piece that tells the life story of singer and producer Pharrell Williams through LEGO pieces. Robert Walter\, the group’s keyboardist\, has been jumping between tours with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters\, and Phish’s Mike Gordon\, among others\, while leading his own 20th Congress. Saxophonist Karl Denson divides time between his touring juggernaut Tiny Universe\, as well as the jazz-based KD3 trio\, while handling saxophone duties on tour with no less than The Rolling Stones. And then there’s the liquid cool of GBA’s rhythm section: bassist Chris Stillwell and drummer Aaron Redfield\, a formidable\, first call rhythm section on pop and hip-hop sessions\, including credits on recordings by Sia\, Elton John\, CeeLo\, and Charli XCX. \nAs they continue to tour and record\, The Greyboy Allstars remain one of the most exciting live bands on the planet—schooled in tradition but never bound by it. Their music nods to legends like Ahmad Jamal\, Wayne Shorter\, Thelonious Monk\, and Eddie Harris\, while sounding utterly timeless and unmistakably their own. In a time when jazz is colliding with hip-hop\, Afrobeat\, psych\, and beat culture\, The Greyboy Allstars are not just relevant—they’re foundational. They’ve been laying bricks in this house since day one\, and their influence only grows deeper. \n

SUMMARY:The Garcia Project w/Shakedown Strings @ Old Rockhouse
DESCRIPTION:The Garcia Project performs full\, unaltered classic Jerry Garcia Band setlists from 1976–1995 — song for song\, set for set — using era-correct arrangements\, tempos\, instrumentation\, and gear to recreate the authentic sound that defined those legendary shows. \nSince 2010\, The Garcia Project is more than a tribute\, the band delivers the emotional and communal experience that made the classic Jerry Garcia Band so beloved. A recent Grateful Web feature described their performances as “a night of healing\, heart\, and pure Jerry magic\,” noting that The Garcia Project opens “a little doorway back to the Jerry Garcia Band years\,” with the same warmth\, looseness\, and deep musical breath that defined the original concerts. \nTheir authenticity has earned praise from the musicians who lived it: \n“…they almost make me feel like I’m back in\, say\, 1992 at the Warfield.”\n— Dennis McNally\, former publicist for the Jerry Garcia Band and The Grateful Dead \n  \n \nShakedown Strings\, a Kansas City\, MO based trio\, consisting of Adam Galblum on vocals and violin\, Clayton DeLong on vocals and acoustic guitar\, and Rick Willoughby on vocals and upright bass\, bring their energy\, passion\, and joy to the stage. Drawing upon their improvisational prowess\, and experience as jazz musicians\, they celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead and explore the band’s vast repertoire of songs and musical ideas.

In recent years\, he has reunited the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade for multiple national tours\, launched Primus‘ Interstellar Drum Derby global drummer search\, and welcomed John Hoffman into the Primus lineup following the release of their latest single featuring Maynard James Keenan.

SUMMARY:Joe Jackson + Band @ The Pageant
DESCRIPTION:Hope and Fury Tour 2026\nJoe Jackson\, born David Ian Jackson on August 11\, 1954\, in Burton upon Trent\, England\, is a renowned musician\, singer\, and songwriter. He gained fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits like “Is She Really Going Out with Him?” and “Steppin’ Out.” Jackson’s music is characterized by its eclectic style\, incorporating elements of rock\, jazz\, and pop.  He has released over 21 studio albums throughout his career. \nAlong with Elvis Costello and Graham Parker\, Joe Jackson was one of the three big “Angry Young Men” of the late ‘70s punk/new wave movement. His early records with his band (named after him)\, reflect said genre and his lyrics got him tagged as “angry”. After the disbandment of his band after Beat Crazy in 1980 (bassist Graham Maby stuck with him)\, he recorded albums that reflected different genres and were more less rocking such as Night and Day\, Body and Soul\, and most notably\, Jumpin’ Jive\, a covers collection of classic swing tunes. Over the years\, Jackson has continued to push his sound in different directions and still records new music to this day. \nJoe Jackson is returning with a brand-new studio set called – Hope and Fury.  It offers nine new songs. Jackson refers to the new album as a collection of “latinjazzfunkrock”\, a combination that we already know that he is more than capable of. \n

SUMMARY:Route 66 Jazz Orchestra @ Kirkwood Park Amphitheater
DESCRIPTION:Summer Concert\nThe Route 66 Jazz Orchestra is a 22-piece jazz band dedicated to the preservation and promotion of “Big Band” Jazz.  Ron Wilkinson appears as a featured vocalist. \nThe roots of the Route 66 Jazz Orchestra trace back to 1969\, when Meramec Community College band director\, Dr. Ron Stilwell\, realized the need and potential to add a jazz band to the music program at the college. As the “Meramec Jazz Lab Band”\, the band flourished for over 40 years in their role as jazz ambassadors for the college. Since 2005\, the band has been under the leadership of lifelong music educator and band director\, Bob Boedges. In the fall of 2012\, the band decided to leave the college in pursuit of the further opportunities available as an “independent” organization and in 2023 Gary Brandes joined the band as the associate director.
