SUMMARY:Anthology (Allman Brothers Tribute) @ Wildey Theatre
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nLive Broadcast by The Roots FM!\nPre-show at 7:00pm\nLive Concert at 7:30pm\n\nSECOND SHOW ADDED!!\nThis is a band comprised of seasoned musicians who have a passion for the legacy of the Allman Brothers\, but what sets this ensemble apart from any others is their personal connection to the Allman Brothers – Gregg Allman in particular. Two of the Anthology band members (vocalist Danny Liston and bassist Dickie Steltenpohl) played in the band Mama’s Pride\, who were signed to Atlantic Records by the legendary Ahmet Ertegun.  At one point in their career\, they crossed paths with Gregg Allman. He was so impressed with their understanding of the feel for his music\, that he asked them to be his band. So\, playing the music of the Allman Brothers became part of their DNA. \nOther members of the band include Tom Denman – keyboards\, Terry Midkiff – guitar\, (who also plays with Amanda Fish)\, Matt Rowland on guitar (who also plays with the Catapults)\, Rob Lee – drums (Rob toured for years with Mike Zito and is a Nashville session player)\, and Joe Meyer drums (who formerly toured with Nikki Hill) \nIt’s Allman Brothers the way they would play it; not note for note\, but with the kind of passion that ABB music evokes.

Later being mentored by revered legendary bluesman\, Henry James Townsend\, a foundational figure in St. Louis blues history. \nWhile he’s done a lot since his debut many years ago\, he continues to become a force and has even joined music legends ZZ Top and Cheap Trick on their 50th Anniversary Tour! SUMMARY:Mattie Schell & Allie Vogler w/ Jackson Stokes @ Atomic
DESCRIPTION:Talk about having one helluva a year! Singer-songwriter Mattie Schell has certainly had one—touring with the Allman Betts band\, playing at the annual MerleFest among other marquee venues\, signing with Nashville-based Compass Records and releasing a promising new album. \nA native of St. Louis with a vocal style reminiscent of the late Janis Joplin\, Schell combines the heartfelt honesty of Americana with the raw power of soul—creating a sound that is both fresh and rooted in tradition. She began her professional career in 2014 as a member of River Kittens\, a promising St. Louis-based duo celebrated for its harmonies\, heartfelt lyrics and raw energy. Schell and her then-Kittens partner Allie Vogler are together again for this show. \nSchell spent the summer touring with Jackson Stokes after performing much of the year with the Allman Betts Family Reunion\, the Southern rock collective led by Allman and Duane Betts. As she forges ahead\, with support from Compass—which also represents artists such as Leftover Salmon\, past guest John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, A.J. Croce\, Colin Hay\, Molly Tuttle\, Robbie Fulks and others—Schell is focused on enjoying the ride and making sure her fans know that she loves what she’s doing.

SUMMARY:Al Holliday & the East Side Rhythm Band @ City Winery
DESCRIPTION:For fifteen years now\, Al Holliday & The East Side Rhythm Band has grown\, and been known as “Pound for Blues Pounding Pound amongst St. Louis music’s best”\, all the while developing and evolving in their own signature St. Louis style\, combining elements of classic Soul\, Rock\, Blues\, Jazz\, Gospel\, R&B\, Country-Funk\, and Americana; and weaving them into their instantly-familiar anthems\, and serving them up on recordings and high-energy live shows – at home\, across the country\, and around the world. \nSt. Louis music is a lineage the band is proud to carry on – and be a part of\, in their own humble way. For those who like to study these kinds of things\, when it comes to St. Louis music: It’s clearly not quite like New Orleans music\, it’s not Memphis Blues and Soul\, but it is definitely not completely unlike either of these other great music traditions of the Mississippi River\, either. \nThis band strives to both carry on and exemplify what sets the St. Louis traditions apart from the others\, for example\, the raw soul power and intensity carried only by the likes of an Ike and Tina\, Albert King\, or Oliver Sain; or more to the point in this artist’s instance: Bonnie Bramlett\, David Sanborn\, or Michael McDonald.

SUMMARY:Umphrey's McGee @ The Pageant
DESCRIPTION:  \nChicago’s eclectic rock band Umphrey’s McGee has been keeping fans on their toes for nearly 28 years now. Though often pigeonholed into “jam band” circles\, Umphrey’s doesn’t fit that traditional mold\, and their fans don’t either. Is it prog rock? Song-forward\, Beatles-esque arrangements? Be careful\, they might hit you with some metal riffs mid-set\, too. Pushing 3\,000 live gigs and 300 million+ tracks streamed\, you-had-to-be-there moments include the band’s performance at the first-ever Bonnaroo and selling more CDs (remember those?) than any other act on the bill. \nA leader in the live music world\, Umphrey’s McGee became the first group to launch its own single-artist streaming service with UMLive.net\, which houses recordings of every show since 2005. The service has since grown and now lives on through Nugs.net\, used by the likes of Pearl Jam\, Bruce Springsteen\, and more. \nIn April 2025\, Umphrey’s led their faithful fans on another bucket list musical adventure: Morockshow\, a three-night event in Marrakech\, Morocco. This marked yet another signature international destination for the band’s one-of-a-kind live experiences. \nAs Umphrey’s McGee steps into their next chapter\, they remain a band in constant evolution—restless\, fearless\, and deeply connected to their audience.

SUMMARY:Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble @ Wildey Theatre
DESCRIPTION:  \nFIRST TIME AT THE WILDEY! \n\n\n\n\n\nSix-time Grammy winner Don Was has had an illustrious career. As a producer\, he won Album of the Year in 1989 with Bonnie Raitt; he has worked with mega stars including The Rolling Stones\, Bob Dylan\, Carly Simon\, Willie Nelson\, Elton John\, and Brian Wilson just to name a few. He also has a British Academy Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association.  Was is also currently the president of Blue Note Records\, probably the most revered jazz label of all time\, and has spent the past seven years as part of Bob Weir’s trio Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros. \nLaunched in 2024\, the nine-piece soul jazz band draws inspiration from Motor City’s wide-ranging musical history\, citing influences ranging from John Lee Hooker\, Donald Byrd\, and Joe Henderson to George Clinton\, Mitch Ryder\, The Stooges\, and Electrifying Mojo.  Led by Was with Dave McMurray on sax\, Luis Resto on keys\, Vincent Chandler on trombone\, John Douglas on trumpet\, Jeff Canaday on drums\, Mahindi Masai on percussion\, Wayne Gerard on guitar\, and Steffanie Christi’an on vocals\, the band debuted last spring\, performing a mix of originals and songs by Yusef Lateef\, Olu Dara\, Henry Threadgill\, and more during a short run spanning intimate clubs\, historic concert halls\, and major festival stages. \n“There’s a unique sound and feel to Detroit that permeates the music in a way that resonates all over the globe\,” said Was. “There is a rawness\, a lack of pretension and an unmistakable\, underlying groove that reflects the people and culture of the entire city.”  Was characterized the band’s sound as “jazzy and improvisational but also glued together with a sinewy R&B groove.” “It’s not slick or smooth — it’s a very raw\, honest\, Detroit kind of thing\,” he explained. \n\n\nHe went on to describe how his experiences touring with Bob Weir and working with artists on the Blue Note roster “have pointed the way towards realizing that sound\,” adding\, “The Pan Detroit Ensemble finally manifests that ‘thing’ I’ve been pursuing. The intention is to make communicative music that gets under the listener’s skin and brings them some joy\, comfort and understanding in deeply troubled times. It’s all connected.” \nThe band’s debut album “Groove In The Face of Adversity” was released in October 2025.  This show will feature tracks from this debut album\, and the band is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s “Blues For Allah” by playing the album in its entirety. \n

SUMMARY:Big Head Todd & the Monsters @ The Pageant
DESCRIPTION:In this life\, very few friendships withstand the test of time. Naturally\, people go their separate ways and chase their own dreams. As rare as it may be for friendships to last a lifetime\, it might be even rarer for a band to stick together for the long haul. For close to four decades\, the members of Big Head Todd and The Monsters—Todd Park Mohr [vocals\, guitar\, keys\, sax\, harmonica]\, Brian Nevin [drums]\, Rob Squires [bass\, vocals]\, and Jeremy Lawton [keyboards\, lap pedal/steel guitar\, vocals]—have continued to both throw down in the studio and light up stages worldwide. Rallying around a core vision\, the platinum-selling Colorado quartet kick out the kind of blues-drenched rock ‘n’ roll bangers that make you want to rev the engine a little louder\, sing along like no one’s looking\, and live a little freer. \nAs the story goes\, Todd\, Brian\, and Rob unlocked their musical partnership during high school when they started jamming in the early eighties. Fast forward to 1986\, they adopted the moniker Big Head Todd and The Monsters. BHTM released 2 successful independent records on their own BIG Records\, Another Mayberry (1989) and Midnight Radio (1990) before drawing the attention of music industry titans and signing with Irving Azoff\, Chuck Morris\, and Frank Barsalona in 1992. They broke nationally  with the platinum-certified staple Sister Sweetly (1993) which yielded four top 10 rock radio hits. They continued to progress with Strategem [1994] and Beautiful World [1997] which yielded several more rock radio hits including Boom Boom featuring John Lee Hooker. The band is continually touring and recording and has continued to put out albums that have received critical acclaim from both fans and press. \nAmong other milestones\, their music literally reached the heavens when they played “Blue Sky” live at NASA Mission Control\, delivering a celestial wakeup for astronauts aboard the International Space Station. They’ve toured and recorded with many rock and blues legends including B.B. King\, Neil Young\, The Allman Brothers\, Hubert Sumlin\, David “Honeyboy” Edwards\, Dave Matthews Band\, The Eagles and their personal favorite Robert Plant. Not to mention\, they attained hometown hero status by headlining Red Rocks Amphitheatre 35 times in addition to earning induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2023. \nIn the end\, the future looks as bright as ever for these longtime friends. \n“We work very hard at being a great band\,” Todd leaves off. “We’re also a group that cares for each other. We’ve been together for almost 40 years. Our audience has made it all possible\, and we’re grateful and determined to keep playing.”

SUMMARY:Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country @ The Sovereign
DESCRIPTION:  \nDaniel Donato’s Cosmic Country is a unique blend of traditional country music infused with elements of rock\, bluegrass\, and funk\, showcasing a vibrant and improvisational musical style.   \nDaniel Donato is a talented guitarist and singer-songwriter who has carved out a niche in the music scene with his Cosmic Country project. His style combines the rich traditions of Nashville honky-tonks with an improvisational spirit\, creating a sound that resonates with a wide audience. He began his career busking on the streets of Nashville and has since evolved into a prominent figure in the cosmic country genre\, often compared to artists like Billy Strings. \nHe calls it Cosmic Country\, a moniker that’s both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It’s an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang\, a showcase for Donato’s instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Bridging Nashville and the Great West\, Kentucky and mid-60s northern California\, tie-dye and plaid\, it’s a world of his own\, and wide world of musical adventure at that. \n“I think Cosmic Country is a tale as old as time\, really\,” Donato explains. “It’s yin and yang in a musical form. It’s three chords and the truth\, and then on the other side it’s exploration and bravery.

SUMMARY:Jimmy Griffin\, Dave Grelle and Emily Wallace @ City Winery-STL
DESCRIPTION:It’s medically unlikely that Jimmy Griffin was born with a guitar in his hands\, but that instruments been a fairly present part of his life for the past two-decades\, a time that’s seen him move from one of St. Louis’ hottest young guitar-slingers\, to a sought-after sideman\, and into a surprisingly-comfortable and evolving role as a riff-steady songwriter. With his latest project\, The Incurables\, now rounding into a third year of live work and recording\, Griffin’s never been as poised to show the world his multiple talents: as a writer of words and music; as a vocalist; as a bandleader; and someone who’s been able to synthesize all of his past experiences into a tuneful new whole. \nDave Grelle is a soul-jazz pianist and composer who leads the Playadors band.  He is known for his original music and has a background in various bands\, including The Feed\, Celebration Day\, Kevin Bowers’ Nova\, and the Funky Butt Brass Band.  Grelle’s passion for jazz and its evolution is evident in this band’s performances\, which feature a magical mingling of sounds\, styles\, and grooves. \nEmily Wallace is a visual and musical artist based out of St. Louis\, Mo. Known for her dynamic\, powerhouse vocals\, Wallace performs around town solo along with her acoustic guitar. She is also a vocalist in Dave Grelle’s Playadors and frequently collaborates with multiple local ensembles such as the Funky Butt Brass Band. Emily is currently working on an album at Sawhorse Studios.

SUMMARY:Clay Street Unit and Jason Scott & the High Heat w/Barnum Jack @ Old Rockhouse
DESCRIPTION:Clay Street Unit \nEverything began in Denver\, Colorado\, where Clay Street Unit formed in 2021. Many of the band’s members — mandolinist Scottie Bolin\, banjo player Jack Cline\, pedal steel guitarist Brad Larrison\, drummer Brendan Lamb\, and singer/guitarist/ringleader Sam Walker — had grown up elsewhere\, spending their teenage years in cities like Atlanta\, Charlottesville and Montgomery.   “We played bluegrass events\, folk festivals\, and country venues\,” Walker says of those early shows\, which the bandmates often booked themselves. “We were able to share our music with so many different demographics and dip our toes into different pools\, and what we realized is\, it’s all pretty similar. Our music seemed to meet everyone in the middle.” \nCall it folk-country. Call it western Americana. Call it Rocky Mountain Newgrass with southern soul. Clay Street Unit aren’t concerned about the various definitions; they’re just happy that more and more people are listening. With Sin & Squalor\, they stake their claim as torchbearers of something both fresh and familiar\, nodding to the traditions of American roots music while sharpening their own modern edge. \n \nJason Scott & The High Heat \nGet ready for an unstoppable evening as these two powerhouses share the stage. Clay Street Unit brings their unique fusion of country-folk traditions and Newgrass spirit\, while Jason Scott & The High Heat delivers sweeping\, groove-driven Americana and heartland rock that’s “too loud for folk music and too textured for Red Dirt.” \nJason Scott & The High Heat\, a high-energy band comprised of five members\, brings to life a unique sound all their own. While many listeners have tried to classify their music as one genre or another\, the group simply focuses on creating music from an honest\, authentic place.  How would the band describe their sound? Well\, “The High Heat” is a hint: “That’s a baseball reference. You’re throwing that stinky cheddar. You’re throwing the high heat. I feel like our music just has that feel to it.”\, \nThe High Heat is Jason Scott on guitar and lead vocals\, Gabriel Mor on guitar\, Garrison Brown on guitar and keys\, Ryan Magnani on bass\, and Tremaine “Bobby” Wade on drums. \n  \n \n  \nBarnum Jack \nFormed in 2018\, Barnum Jack plays music that honors the roots of traditional bluegrass\, with a modern twist. Barnum Jack came together after Sam Avery (guitar\, vocals)\, Sam Aubuchon (mandolin\, vocals)\, and Chad White (banjo\, vocals) all realized their shared appreciation for the early bluegrass pioneers. The trio then added Will Miskall (bass\, vocals) and Jackson Ramsey (fiddle\, vocals) to round out the quintet. \nBarnum Jack made their official debut in 2024 after releasing their self-titled album to airwaves all across the world.
